Massage…2 Feet Deep
|
What is meant by 2 feet deep? It is actually using feet to give a deep muscle massage. Yes you read that correctly! Call it a, “treat with the feet” massage technique. · What is this new massage Technique called? It is called Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, also known as AOBT. This technique incorporates overhead bars for support and balance, and is performed on a massage table. The certified massage therapist uses body weight and gliding foot compression on strategic points along the muscles. When performed near the spine, this form of effleurage creates a push pull pumping effect on the soft tissue surrounding the spine. The movements along the para-spinals and lumbar region can help relieve muscle spasms and return some much needed space between the vertebrae. It also relieves irritations on the spinal nerves caused by inflammation and swelling. AOBT elongates shorted muscles and gives deep stimulation to the Lymphatic system. If this weren’t enough…it’s totally relaxing! Using elbows, fingers and tools to achieve deep work can be painful, as these tools can be sharp and make a body tense up instead of relax. With Ashiatsu Oriental Bar therapy a broad, smooth, flat, well-padded surface is used (the feet), along with gravitational force to work as deep as the client likes. The pressure the client feels is smooth, consistent, and flowing but can also be specific when using the heel, toes or balls of the feet. AOBT can be performed as one footed strokes or for those who like really deep work, two footed strokes can be incorporated.
